CREATION OF PEACEBUILDERS FOR PAQUIBATO DISTRICT
The City Government of Davao, through Peace 911, with the coordination with the 1003rd Brigade, 27th Infantry Battalion and 89th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Peacebuilders for Paquibato District, Davao City was created. Its creation is a complementary approach designed to stop the vicious cycle of AFP clearing CTG particularly in Paquibato District, Davao City.
The deployment of Peacebuilders aims to stop the exploitation of the community in Paquibato District and prevent the CTG from re-infiltrating and recovering the cleared areas, and eventually establish a peaceful environment conducive to development and develop conflict resilient communities.
A 7-day series of training were conducted per batch for the Peacebuilders in Sta. Ana, Panabo City. There were three (3) batches of trainings that started last January 27, 2022 and ended on February 19, 2022.
The said trainings were held on the following dates:
Batch 1- January 26, 2022 to February 01, 2022
Batch 2 – February 04, 2022 to February 10, 2022
Batch 3 – February 13, 2022 to February 19, 2022
The 27th Infantry Battalion Commander LTC Victorino M. Seño led the first batch training and Acting Commander LTC Allan M. Tesoro led the second and third batch trainings for Peacebuilders. Peace Adviser Ms. Irene Santiago attended as the guest of honor and speaker. Government agencies also attended to lecture different topics for the Peacebuilders: Peace 911 Focal Person Ms. Mary Aileen Mabanding and Peace 911 Operations Assistant Ms. Caryjane Laguna, Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) Head, P/Ltcol Angel B. Sumagaysay (Ret), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI, LGOO VI, Ms. Maria Ruby Batingal, 1003rd Brigade Commander Col. Consolito P. Yecla, 89th Infantry Battalion Commander Donald P. Gaffud, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) XI, Mr. Nale Archie M. Romitman, and Police Station 7 – Davao City Police Office PSMS Ryan Yabao, PCPL Ritchie Arnaiz, PCPL Ronnel Bolonia, and PCFC Lloyd Nierves.
