CONTINUING PEACE THROUGH SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

In its efforts to continue and sustain peacebuilding program for the conflict-affected areas, the Peace 911 organized the Peace Caravan activity last May 19, 2022 at Brgy. Malabog Gym, Paquibato District, Davao City. This is to conduct various initiatives geared toward peacebuilding and development for the communities within its focus areas.

This activity aims to provide effective convergence and public service delivery directly to the people in far-flung communities of Paquibato and Calinan District. It is the Peace 911’s ingenuity to ensure to the community the city’s commitment to public service and to bring the government closer to the people especially in geographically isolated areas.

The Peace Caravan was led by the guest speakers, Mr. Jessielito Areja – Punong Barangay of Barangay Malabog, Mr. Benjamin Lizada – Peace Committee Member and Ms. Irene Santiago- Peace Adviser of the City Mayor, who welcomed the participants and provided a brief background of the event, Ms. Mary Aileen Mabanding- Peace 911 Focal Person, who introduced the participating national, local and private offices and the Punong Barangays of the 17 focus areas (Barangay Lumiad, Barangay Fatima, Barangay Malabog, Barangay Mapula, Barangay Pañalum, Barangay Colosas, Barangay Tapak, Barangay Salapawan, Barangay Mabuhay, Barangay Paquibato Proper, Barangay Sumimao, Barangay Paradise Embac, and Barangay Pandaitan of Paquibato District and Barangay Dominga, Barangay Megkawayan, Barangay Inayangan, Barangay Saloy of Calinan District), Colonel Alberto Lupaz – Davao City Police Office Director and Police Major Joenel Pederio – Station Commander of Paquibato District Police Station who discussed about safety and security, and a special message from the City Mayor of Davao, Hon. Sara Z. Duterte.

During the Caravan, there were 15 various government and private agencies namely, City Planning Development Office (CPDO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI, Davao City Police Office, 10th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) XI, City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC), City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), City Health Office (CHO), City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), City Agriculturist Office (CAgO), Ata Tribe Indigenous Political Structure-Ancestral Domain Management Office (IPS-ADMO), City Information Office (CIO) and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) have provided basic services to the community.

The Peace 911, as gatekeeper of projects and implementing arm of peacebuilding programs, ensures to continue this kind of activities to provide excellent public service to the community and to impart government services to the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.
