The City Government of Davao through Peace 911 conducted a Mass Surenderees together with the member of security sector namely: 27th Infantry Battalion, 89th Infantry Battalion, 56th Infantry Battalion, 1003rd Infantry Brigade, 10th Infantry Division, Eastern Mindanao Command, Philippine National Police and Public Safety and Security Office last May 16, 2023 at Barangay Paquibato Proper Gymnasium, Paquibato District.

A total of 44 former rebels surrendered to the authorities in the hopes of providing a better life and new beginning for themselves and for their families.

The lawyers from the Public Attorney’s Office and the members of Legal Cluster Committee who provided legal assistance to these surenderees were also present in the activity.

During the event, these 44 former rebels were presented and turned over to the jurisdiction of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

The City Mayor’s Office together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office provided food, grocery and financial assistance to the families of the former rebels.

In its efforts to continue and sustain peacebuilding program for the conflict-affected areas, these 44 former rebels took their oath of allegiance to the government and will become a tool in achieving peace in Davao City.
