Vegetable production is a vital source of livelihood in the communities of Paquibato District. Producing these vegetables allows the farmers to make a living whilst boosting their economic and agricultural enterprises. However, not all farmers are experts in growing their products.

In line with the Strengthening People’s Organization focus program of Peace 911, the office conducted a training called Fruit Trees and Vegetable Farming Training in partnership with the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAgrO) last November 3, 2022 at Barangay Pañalum to the different active farming associations of Paquibato District.

Moreover, to boost and strengthen the knowledge and skills of the farmers, the Peace 911 along with CAgrO conducted the High Value Crop and Cacao Development training with different participants who are also active in agricultural production. 

The goal of this activity is to train and teach the farmers how to develop chopseuy vegetable ingredients. Chopseuy recipe is one of the highlighted foods that are served Filipino events. 

The Peace 911’s objective is to encourage vegetable production and conduct market matching of their products to private and business sectors. Through this, the farmers will have an opportunity to promote their products in the comfort of their homes whilst making a profit to support their families.

The CAgrO discussed about the importance of site selection in growing vegetables. They also tackled about the different varieties of vegetable, the methods of planting vegetables and the process of nurturing them. They also gave an orientation about Cacao development and on how to properly sell these products. And before the activity ended, the participants also received vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture XI.

Through this initiative, the Peace 911 hopes to uplift the livelihoods of the community in Paquibato District.
